Gumption Holiday Card 2018
The annual Holiday Card has become a hot ticket creative outlet for so many of us at this time of year. From photoshoots in the park, way too many puns, mounds of Whataburger and an amazingly sketchy rendering, we’ve covered a lot of Yuletide Terrain in the past four years. So I thought why not take a peak at our previous entries and also show you our latest confection for 2018.
Let’s begin with our first foray into Holiday Correspondence from 2015
This was taken by the ever hilarious Rockstar photographer Steve Wrubel. We are giving you movement, ridiculousness, and literally just being our dorky selves. One of my favorite Holiday Memories as this was also the time that TJ was graduating from College, which I am still so darn proud of him for accomplishing!! Although, I do think my knee still gets rickety when it rains due to one of these jump attempts that went array. But hey, you do what you gotta do to get that shot!!
Next we look at 2016’s entry; the year we mastered effortless laughing in still photography
This was taken at one of our favorite places to dance, Beauty Bar, on a random night out with our friends. This is also the first appearance of ‘Happy Christmas’, the Reejay way of Holiday Tidings. It’s always funny to us because it causes people to dramatically eyeroll considering we aren’t british, but I blame Kate Winslet and her adorable performance in The Holiday for making this greeting stick for us (you can also thank that same performance for giving this website it’s name).
2017 became the first time we shot it in our house, it’s also the time we bought Nintey dollars worth of Whataburger
This was shot by our good friend Dani, because she’s amazing and also due to the fact that when we told her our concept, she didn’t immediately laugh in our faces.
These photos also highlight our very fabulous Christmas tree that is covered in vintage inspired glass blown ornaments that are anything but traditional (as evidenced by the giant shark, pretzel and pepperoni pizza that accompany the glamour shot of the Heinz Ketchup and Mustard).
also… clock that topknot sis. Only took me one try.
Which leads us to this years addition!!!
for 2018, we decided to skip the photography studio and head directly to the animation station.
As I have confided before, I love the work of illustrators I have found on Instagram.
So for this years entry, we decided to ask the immensely talented and ever sweet Justin Teodoro to illustrate a photo of us from our trip to Aspen earlier in the year.
Taken in the Cariboo Club on what our friends dubbed Fur Night (no animals were harmed in the creation of Fur Night), it’s a very happy snapshot from our 2018, and thusly I think it is our best card yet!
