Gumption Cocktails with Zephyr Gin
Let’s be real, when it comes to cocktail creating, I don’t have a heavy hand; I have an iron fist. But with the help of my therapist and the good folks at Zephyr Gin, I have decided to give it the Holiday go, and create some easy and hopefully drinkable, Festive Libations.
I have what you would call an unelevated palette.
Which simply means that if you make me a drink, I am not above drinking it.
But when the Shaker is in my hands, all bets are off. Sometimes they are so strong they could sanitize medical equipment. Other times they can be as weak as me when asked to play sports. It’s just a toss-up. Simple as that.
So I have decided to team up with Zephyr Gin, to finally get a handle on this whole At-Home Mixologist moment! I’m optimistic to make some holiday magic in gorgeous stemware for a couple of our best friends before we head out to our big Holiday Soiree tonight!
I’m going to attempt a Cherry Gin Spritz and the classic Gin Martini. And to add a layer of fun to the mix, we’re doing this in LIVE TIME PEOPLE!! How bad could this go, right?
Pardon me while I make sure I program Poison Control into my speed dial.

All of our ingredients are perfectly laid out and ready to go as my partner TJ and I greet our friends Erin and Tom as they arrive. Both are unaware of this punishment, I mean experiment we are about to conduct, but they say they love me, so my fingers are crossed for continued friendship.

Our opening act is the Cherry Gin Spritz… Sounds V holiday. Also, fruit is the good kind of sugar. Double win.
Ingredients:
1 measure of Zephyr Gin
150 ML of Cherry Juice
10 ML of Lemon Juice
Ice Cubes
Fresh Cherries
The Sonos Beam on full blast so as to drown out the possibility of the Haters.

Everyone has their Cherry Spritz in there hands and no one looks like they are about to throw it at me… So far so good!
VERDICT: This was super refreshing and light!! I am a fan of a good bitter or sour taste, so this was perfectly delicious! I might have gone a smidge light on the Zephyr Gin in the first round, but we can chalk that up to stage fright.

Here’s a fun fact… Did you know that Sean Conory’s bond was wrong? The perfect martini is actually made with Gin. And now that I am about three Cherry Spritz’s in, I feel good about my chances here.
Plus, there are only three ingredients. Although, math has never really been my strong suit.
Ingredients:
2 & 3/4th Measure of Zephyr Gin
3/4th Measure of Vermouth
7 High Kicks (so as to distract your friends from figuring out that you don’t know how much a 3/4th is…)
7:10 pm
VERDICT: Well, we had to call poison control.
JUST KIDDING!! The Martini’s were super smooth and easy to sip while everyone discussed A Star is Born for the 300th time and also how shocked they were that I was able to make 2 cocktails that weren’t just palatable, they were delicious!
I am for sure going to take as much credit as possible, but let’s be real… the credit obviously goes to the Zephyr Gin for making my failed attempt to fulfill my Coyote Ugly fantasy, a marked success.

We have now called our Uber and are headed to our big holiday festivus, with my newfound Bartending skills in tow! I would like to thank my lovely friends and partner turned test subjects, as well as my aforementioned therapist Dr. Schultz for their support and ego cushioning. And lastly, the biggest thanks to my friends at Zephyr Gin for finally giving me some street cred behind the bar!
