Best Lewks of 2018

This is one of my favorite times of the year. Yes, because it’s the holidays, and it is finally cold enough for me to wear the third pieces and accessories I feel best complete me, but mostly because it’s time to reflect on our favorite moments on the Red Carpet from the past 12 months. So, without further ado, I give you my Best Lewks List of 2018

(Lewks are not in any order. I love them all equally. Like Meryl and her Oscars… you just can’t pick a favorite)

Who: Rihanna

What: Maison Margiela

Where: 2018 Met Gala

Why: The queen of literal theme interpretation, Rihanna thinks these things through as a  collaboration. Giving us Papel Chic, with ornate finishings and of course the most casual of catholic chapeau’s, Rihanna once again answers our fashion prayers.

Who: Tracee Ellis Ross

What: Valentino Haute Couture

Where: 2018 Emmy Awards

Why: Tracee is a fashion enterprise all her own. She needs no permission to slay a red carpet. This gave her countless angles for posed perfection and gave us golden goddess who doesn’t need an award, cause she IS the award.

Who: Nicole Kidman

What: Armani Prive

Where: 2018 Academy Awards

Why: what do you mean, Why? This color screams LOVE ME, and the glimmer and sheen is the epitome of Armani Prive. Also, kudos for that savage bow that just does it for me in oh so many ways, like… I just couldn’t love it more.

Who: Lady Gaga

What: Valentino Haute Couture

Where: A Star is Born premiere at the Venice Film Festival

Why: There are literally a Million Reasons (you’re welcome) why this is a slam dunk. Valentino Couture has been on a winning streak, giving drama and femininity, while not over powering the woman lucky enough to slip these pieces of art on. Also, top knot. Yes Ma’am she did.

Who: Zendaya

What: Giambattista Valli

Where: 2018 Academy Awards

Why: I still consider her to be my favorite chameleon of the red carpet. Continually showing us how much fun fashion can be with ever changing hues, hair, and silhouettes. She also did something most only dream to do; wear a brown gown that makes every fashion kid drool.

Who: Kacey Musgraves

What: Custom Versace

Where: 2018 CMA Awards

Why: Country Music often times gets a bad rep for spending too much time on the tuning of chords and not enough time refining the lewk, if you know what I mean, but Musgraves gave us what we never knew we always needed; a high fashion, dark country goddess… IN PANTS!

Who: Ciara

What: Alexandre Vauthier Couture

Where: 2018 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Why: I don’t want this to come off like I am yelling, but CIARA IS A FASHION ICON!! First of all, it is beyond troubling that someone can be that gorgeous in world in which we both exist, but she is giving you Dianna Ross realness while still managing to give you leg, sex and that hair that is so perfect it makes my tummy hurt.

Who: Jonathan van Ness

What: Maison Margiela

Where: 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Why: This doesn’t need an explanation. It deserves a standing ovation. He’s giving me leg, he’s giving me mewd, and the best part is the confidence exuded through that smile, sayin ‘Yuus Sis… I know I slayed this’.
