gumption man: tan France

As far as Men of Style go, Tan France is a chameleon of cool. From playing with trends to classic staple pairing, he is in a league of his own.

As one of the Fab Five from Netflix’s Emmy winning smash reboot Queer Eye, France has the task of reviving and rejuvenating the wardrobes of each of the shows Heroes.

What stands out is his ability to not only understand his subjects hard facts (budget, body type, etc.), but he understands how to evaluate personal taste, which helps these individuals feel they are an updated version of themselves, without feeling as though they look like someone else.

This is not a concept every stylist understands.

I think this characteristic stems from his level of awareness of what fashion is supposed to mean; it is supposed to be playful, personal, and ultimately a giant booster of their self-esteem.

It’s also one of the top reasons I cannot wait to read his new book, Naturally Tan: A Memoir which is slated to come out this coming May, which you can pre-order here.

This fact, among the many of additional valid ones, is what makes him a Gumption Man.

But… just in case you don’t believe me, feast your eyes on some primary examples of France’s playfully sartorial sensibility.
