Gumption Man: Antoni Porowski
When referencing my #StyleFile of fashionable influence, Antoni Porowski definitely resides in my top tier. From spray painted tees to trend driven ensembles to runway lewks, he can sartorially serve with the greats. Say hello to your newest Gumption Man.
What is my reasoning here you ask? Well, that’s simple. Porowski can wear literally anything. if he was to show up on a red carpet in a potato sack and spats I would just simply reply, ‘chic’. More specifically though, he seems to really love Fashion and the playful way in which we can create different versions of ourselves each day depending on what we wear and how we feel.
When combined with the fact that he singlehandedly resurrected the Avocado as the coolest veggie in the crisper, it’s inconceivable to not include him in this series. .
The world first fell in love with Porowski thanks to the blessed and highly favored joy that is Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot as the resident Food & Wine expert.
What I found refreshing was his ability to listen to these Heroes (the name for each week’s new subject), ultimately teaching family’s not to make strictly high brow meals like Beef Bourguignon, but rather things they can create together with ease to elicit a lovely moment to bond.
Since the show skyrocketed these gents into A List status, Porowski has used his new found celebrity voice and platform to highlight the issues of our LGBTQI community, even marching in Montreal’s Pride Parade with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Oh yea, he’s Canadian aka my favorite people in existence.
He has also parlayed his love of food into a brick and mortar location, the Village Den, located in Manhattan’s West Village that serves up everything a true foodie would need. Healthy options to carb loading, to just great coffee, the eatery gives you a taste of what it is that Porowski is interested in when it comes to the culinary; everything. Look out for Porowski’s first cookbook later this year as well…
Also good to note, He’s marginally attractive too.
Lastly, there is his ever important Sartorial Sensibility. Get ready to clock the lewks Henny…
From Balmain to Beanies, cashmere knits to cropped jackets, Porowski wears it all (and he wears it well…)
